About me
Hi, I am Giulio! I’m originally from Italy and passionate about Controlling, Business & Financial Analysis, Project & Performance Management, and Business Intelligence. I’m also deeply interested in Corporate Governance, Data Processing, and Behavioural Economics.
Professional Experience
European Central Bank (Frankfurt am Main, Germany)
Audit Analyst – Directorate Internal Audit (since June 2025)
Currently part of the Infrastructure Portfolio, I am mostly contributing to audit missions focused on the Shared Services areas of the ECB. However, I also had the opportunity to rotate across different portfolios and be exposed to diverse audit areas than my portfolio. This has allowed me to explore an even wider range of processes, each with its own structure, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. I find it extremely interesting to identify ways to make these processes more efficient and effective. I truly appreciate all the assignments I’ve been entrusted with, as they keep my work dynamic and consistently engaging. So far, the audits I have been involved in were (without disclosing the full description of the audit for confidentiality reasons):
- budget reprioritisation excercises;
- pensions;
- administrative expenses with a focus on communication;
- Annual Account;
- project governance.
Finance Trainee and Analyst – Budgeting and Controlling Division - Directorate Finance (April 2023 - December 2024)
Worked in the Projects & Analytics team with responsibilities including:
- Managing budget allocations and adjustments based on Business Area needs and Budget Partner input;
- Running reconciliations to ensure SAP financial data integrity;
- Drafting core ECB budget deliverables (Budget Planning, Mid-Year Forecast, Year-End Report);
- Overseeing creation and maintenance of SAP master data in the ERP financial management modules (FM, CO, BW and FI) and in its environments (DEV, UAT, PRD);
- Implementing VBA automations to improve internal workflows;
- Acting as knowledge management focal point, improving documentation and its internal space structure.

Academic Background
I hold both a Master’s degree in Economics and Management (specialising in Business Administration) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Markets and Institutions, both obtained at the University of Bologna. My Bachelor’s studies gave me a solid introduction to a wide range of economic, legal, and financial subjects, ranging from micro and macroeconomics, commercial law, or statistics to industrial, international and environmental economics, forming a strong foundation for the advanced knowledge I needed for my Master’s degree later on.
Throughout my Master’s, I strengthened my expertise in cost accounting, performance analysis, business analytics. This included studying key financial and profitability ratios (ROA, ROE, NPM), and gaining hands‑on experience with Power BI, R, and Python, particularly in developing interactive dashboards and conducting data‑driven analyses.
During my Master’s, in the winter semester 2021/2022, I studied as an Erasmus+ exchange student at SGH Warsaw School of Economics (Warsaw, Poland), where I achieved a GPA of 4.0/4.0 and further enriched my academic and international exposure.
Finally, most recently, I completed a 3‑month high-intensity Master of Specialization in Controlling & Business Performance at Executy Business Academy (from May to July 2025). The programme was led by experienced managers and controllers from industry and focused on concrete, real‑world cases in financial controlling, budgeting, and business performance analysis and evaluation.
